Outdoor Design Meets Digital Twin: Final Sprint in Schneeberg

High-tech meets craftsmanship: Fourth-semester fashion design students at Angewandte Kunst Schneeberg are in their final sprint — combining digital avatars, real fabrics, and bold creativity. In collaboration with Gore, they’re creating functional outdoor wear that’s not only stylish but technically refined.

The studios in Schneeberg are buzzing: Fourth-semester fashion design students are working at full speed on their functional outdoorwear collections—both physically with fabric samples and digitally on avatars. The central tool supporting their process is CLO3D, a software that allows for highly realistic visualization and optimization of garment patterns.

From color and fabric studies to textures and motion simulations—CLO3D enables students to develop and refine their designs quickly and in detail. What makes the project particularly exciting is the integration of material data provided by partner company Gore. This allows the students to understand exactly how the textiles behave during pattern construction, making it easier to design with both aesthetics and functionality in mind.
