Digital Foundations: FashionTEX at the University of Zagreb

As part of the FashionTEX Atelier Course, students at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Textile Technology took their first steps into the world of digital fashion design. In an introductory course focused on CLO3D, they learned essential skills such as avatar customization, 2D and 3D pattern editing, virtual sewing, material application, and rendering final looks. The course also offered theoretical insights into digital fashion as a tool for creative exploration and a more sustainable
industry.

For many students, this was their first encounter with CLO3D. Despite initial challenges—such as technical limitations and unfamiliarity with the program—they quickly progressed. “Some were apprehensive at first,” the instructors shared, “but over time, they became more confident and proud of what they accomplished.” The hands-on learning gave students a foundation they can build on throughout their careers, and plans are already underway to integrate the course into the regular curriculum.

The student feedback reflects the excitement and value of the experience. “CLO3D simplified the design process and made my fashion journey easier,” said Linda Kozina. “It truly represents the future of fashion.” Her classmate Doris Lenarčić added: “I’ve worked with other digital tools before, but this was the first one that felt fully connected to fashion. It’s an amazing skill for any student in the field.” Through this course, students gained not only technical knowledge but also a new way of thinking about garment creation—one that embraces innovation, experimentation, and personal expression.
