“Code, AI & Textile” | FashionTEX expands Program with groundbreaking educational Project

As part of Chemnitz’s year as European Capital of Culture 2025, FashionTEX continues to grow into a unique platform for digital fashion, textile innovation, and cultural education. One of the most exciting additions this year is the educational project “Code, AI & Textile”, initiated by the DigiMoK team in cooperation with Deutsche Telekom AG. This groundbreaking program brings together creativity, craftsmanship, and technology in a powerful new way.

Rethinking Textile Education

What happens when coding, artificial intelligence, and textile design collide? “Code, AI & Textile” offers a hands-on answer. In interactive workshops, students, educators, and design enthusiasts will explore how to use platforms like TurtleStitch to create custom embroidery patterns through code—and bring them to life using modern textile machines. AI-driven tools will open up entirely new design possibilities, taking ideas straight from code to couture.

Two Live Events to Explore

The project will be presented live at two key moments in 2025:

  • May 7–9, 2025: The DigiMoK Cube will be located in front of the Chemnitz Opera House, open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., coinciding with the European Cultural Awards on May 9.

  • November 5–8, 2025: As part of the FashionTEX Festival, the DigiMoK Cube will transform the courtyard of “die fabrik” in Chemnitz into a creative hub for coding, experimentation, and textile exploration. Visitors can also enjoy an exhibition on AI in textile design, alongside talks and educational sessions focused on the future of digital fashion.

A Stage for the Future of Fashion

“Code, AI & Textile” perfectly embodies the mission of FashionTEX: as a festival, lab, and networking platform, it brings together fashion, art, education, and technology. The project champions digital empowerment, accessibility, and cross-generational learning—all grounded in creativity and hands-on experience.

As an official part of Chemnitz – European Capital of Culture 2025, FashionTEX is shaping a new vision for textile design at the intersection of gaming, craftsmanship, digital tools, and civic engagement. “Code, AI & Textile” is a shining example of that vision—and an invitation to co-create the future of textiles across Europe.
