Alina studies at the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau and participated in the FashionTEX Riga Makerspace 2026. During these two intensive weeks, she deepened her knowledge of CLO3D and the use of AI tools in particular. At the same time, she was introduced to the creative working methods of other European students and gained experience in international teamwork. The Makerspace also reinforced her desire to launch her own fashion brand and integrate digital technologies into her future work.

Alina, what new skills or insights did you gain at the Makerspace?

I developed a much deeper understanding of CLO3D and AI tools. At the same time, I was able to get to know the Baltic region, gain experience in international teamwork, and discover the different ways students from various European countries approach creative tasks.

Was there a specific moment when you thought, “This is a real ‘aha’ moment”?

When I arrived in Riga, my skills in CLO3D weren’t particularly solid yet. Isabel really helped me understand the program better and learn its “language,” so to speak. That was when I truly realized the potential of CLO3D.

I had a similar moment while working with artificial intelligence. I came to understand that AI involves much more than just writing prompts. Gaining those deeper insights and learning the right approach was a real eye-opener for me.

Did you make new contacts with other students or universities at the Makerspace?

Yes, I made many new friends, which I’m really happy about. The other students were incredibly creative and talented. I really hope we stay in touch after the final exhibition.

What was the biggest personal challenge for you while working in the Makerspace, and how did you overcome it?

For me, the biggest challenge was definitely CLO3D. Isabel really helped me deepen my skills and truly understand the program. I am very grateful for that.

The tight schedule was also a challenge for some students. However, I had the advantage of arriving in Riga well-prepared.

What key insights did you gain while working on your avatar or outfit?

I realized that I absolutely need to keep working with CLO3D, because digital technologies will play a crucial role in the future of fashion. The same applies to artificial intelligence.

When it comes to AI, however, I don’t want to focus on just a single program. I find systems that combine multiple applications and technologies much more interesting. I see great potential in this for my future work.

Was there a moment that particularly surprised or inspired you in a positive way?

Seeing the other students’ designs was particularly inspiring. The diversity of ideas and the different creative approaches really impressed me and opened up new perspectives.

Which technical tools did you work with the most?

I worked primarily with CLO3D, AI tools, video editing, 3D printing, and digital weaving. This combination of different technologies showed me just how versatilely digital tools can be used in fashion and design today.

Which result of your work at the Riga Makerspace are you particularly proud of?

I am especially proud of my 3D avatar. For me, it also represents how much I was able to develop my digital fashion design skills during the Makerspace program.

How do you plan to proceed after the Makerspace?

For a long time, I was unsure whether I should actually start my own brand. But working with this fantastic team encouraged me to pursue what I love most.

That’s why I definitely want to build my own website and try to launch my own fashion brand while completing my master’s degree.

Are there any ideas or projects you would like to develop further?

There isn’t a concrete project yet. However, I would really love to participate in similar international, creative projects again.

What was the biggest personal gain for you from your time at the Makerspace?

For me, the entire Makerspace experience was a gain. It was incredible and sparked something within me; it gave me new motivation and encouraged me to continue on my own path in fashion.
