Pioneering Digital Fashion: CLO3D Course at the Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design in Prague

As part of the FashionTEX project, the Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design in Prague (UMPRUM) successfully completed its two-semester Digital Visualization course – a key step in bringing digital innovation to fashion education.

Aimed at students from the Clothing and Footwear Studio, Fashion Design Studio, and Textile Studio, the course was compulsory for second-year students and served as an introduction to the world of 3D garment design and visualization using CLO3D software.

In the first semester, students learned the fundamentals of the CLO3D interface, from basic digital garment modeling to the construction of accurate digital patterns. These sessions laid the groundwork for creative exploration using industry-standard digital tools.

In the second semester, the focus shifted to independent, project-based learning. Students applied their technical knowledge to realize individual design concepts and began exploring animation features within CLO3D – pushing the boundaries of how fashion can be visualized and communicated in digital environments.

By integrating CLO3D into the curriculum, UMPRUM is equipping the next generation of designers with the skills and mindset to work across physical and virtual fashion worlds, and preparing them for a rapidly evolving industry shaped by technology.
