die fabrik chemnitz | Location of the FashionTEX Festival opened

From 5 to 7 November 2025, the FashionTEX Festival in the European Capital of Culture 2025 Chemnitz will be a central feature of this special year. The venue is the historic fabrik chemnitz, which, with its impressive blend of industrial charm and modern design, offers the perfect backdrop for presenting innovations in fashion and textile design. “We’ve already been there and are delighted with the location,” says Annett Reeder, Managing Director of the European Cultural Forum, which initiates the FashionTEX Festival. The revitalized commercial area on Zwickauer Straße will itself be a highlight of the festival and has become a modern center for work and leisure in recent years. With a co-working area, offices, a bakery, a rooftop bar and even a basketball court on the roof, die fabrik chemnitz offers a unique atmosphere. The different levels make this place a lively hub for creativity and innovation.

The FashionTEX Festival brings together fashion experts, up-and-coming designers, students and fashion enthusiasts from all over Europe. Over the three days, there will be numerous opportunities to find out about the latest trends and developments in digital fashion design. An accompanying congress, at which international experts will hold discussions, will provide a platform for exchange and the expansion of global networks. A special highlight will be the innovative show, where work from the makerspaces, the creative workshops, will be presented. “You shouldn’t think of it as a classic fashion show with a catwalk,” says Annett Reeder. “We will be working with avatars and other digital tools.” Another highlight of the event – open to all interested parties – is the presentation of the European Next Generation Award. An expert jury will select the best achievement and work from the makerspace.

The FashionTEX Festival in Chemnitz stands for a new generation of fashion designers who want to shape the future of the industry in a sustainable, innovative and digital way. With its interdisciplinary approach, the event marks another milestone and promises to be an inspiring experience for everyone involved.
