The FashionTEX festival has begun!

The show is going on! Amidst great media interest, the international fashion event FashionTEX has begun at the ‘fabrik Chemnitz’. The focus is primarily on the transformation of the fashion industry, which is characterised by comprehensive digitalisation, innovative textiles and the use of artificial intelligence. Over two days, internationally renowned fashion experts will debate the challenges and opportunities facing the entire industry in almost 20 discussion rounds in Chemnitz.

In the former tulle factory in the west of Chemnitz, 24 aspiring fashion designers studying at eleven European universities from Portugal to Croatia, Lithuania and the Netherlands will present their creations to a wide audience. The best of them will be awarded prizes at a grand fashion show on the evening of 7 November.

The Saxon State Minister for Culture, Conrad Clemens, was a guest on the first day of the festival. He was invited to attend the panel discussions on the topic of ‘AI in the classroom’ at the start of the event, as artificial intelligence has long been revolutionising learning in schools – a prerequisite for anyone who wants to work in the fashion industry.

Digital learning processes are also fundamentally changing teaching in Saxony. Conrad Clemens admitted that the Free State of Saxony is still in the early stages of using AI. ‘But since this school year, we are the first federal state to use Bettermarks, for example, for maths lessons with a licence for the whole state.’

Right next door, the DigiMok digital classroom demonstrated how innovative learning processes can introduce pupils to digital learning. Several school classes tried their hand at designing their own fashion with great enthusiasm throughout the day.
