Great Anticipation – Sophie Pöhler Travels to the FashionTEX Makerspace 2026 in Riga

Sophie Pöhler, a 22-year-old fashion design student at the West Saxon Faculty of Applied Arts in Schneeberg, will participate in the FashionTEX Makerspace 2026 in Riga.

This two-week international program will take place from August 31 to September 12, 2026, at the Art Academy of Latvia, bringing together young talents from 11 European fashion universities involved in the FashionTEX project. The program focuses on digital fashion, innovative production technologies, sustainability, and international collaboration.

Sophie is currently working on her bachelor’s collection, which explores the lives of young people and their search for a personal style. Her work centers on a modern capsule wardrobe concept featuring a variety of garments, each reflecting a different contemporary trend.

Sophie is particularly interested in the intersection of fashion and digital technologies. Through the FashionTEX Makerspace, she aims to expand her skills in the field of fashion technology and develop new creative perspectives.

Beyond her professional development, she is especially looking forward to meeting and exchanging ideas with international students and young creatives from the fashion industry.

“Maybe the Makerspace will be the best part of my life,” says Sophie, full of anticipation for the upcoming project in Riga.

The international program creates a unique space for creative exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration, and new ideas at the intersection of fashion, technology, and design. Together, the participants will develop innovative approaches for the future of the European fashion industry.
