Creativity, sustainability, and interdisciplinary design – Sofija Estella Donga at FashionTEX Makerspace 2026

Sofija Estella Donga is studying fashion design at the Academy of Arts in Latvia and is currently in her second year of her bachelor’s degree.

For Sofija, creative work is far more than just a field of study—it is a way to develop new perspectives and actively help shape social change. She is particularly passionate about the intersection of digital and physical art, as well as innovative design processes that combine diverse creative disciplines. Her background in graphic design enables her to blend these two passions in a unique way.

Sofija views participation in the FashionTEX Makerspace 2026 as a valuable opportunity to expand her creative horizons and find new inspiration. Exchanging ideas with international participants and collaborating on forward-looking projects offer her the chance to develop fresh concepts and further hone her design skills.

Sustainability in the fashion industry is a matter close to her heart. She engages deeply with the challenges of environmental pollution and is convinced that the fashion industry can play a pivotal role in driving positive change. Consequently, she aims to actively contribute to solutions and be part of a new generation of designers who take responsibility for the future.

Friends describe Sofija as creative, humorous, and unique. With her open nature and dedication, she hopes to inspire others to champion sustainable development and to collaborate on creating art that connects people and has a positive impact on the world.

The international FashionTEX program creates an inspiring space for creative exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative approaches at the intersection of fashion, technology, and design.
